Case Semenya: Association confirms sex test before world championship

New development in the case caster Semenya: Athletics association of South Africa (ASA) has confirmed for the first time to have carried out a gender test with the later 800-metre world champion already before the world championship.
Moreover, ASA president Leonard Chuene in a press conference put away in Pretoria to have ignored recommendations of his own doctors, not to let begin the 18-year-old in Berlin. Chuene apologised to have denied this test up to now publicly. This has been a "misjudgement". With it and with the nomination Semanyas for the world championship he wanted to protect «her private sphere».
Leonard Chuene described the expiry before the world championship as follows: Already 7th of August has sent the ASA Semenya at the request of the world association IAAF there in Pretoria to a gender test. A result would not be given till this day. Chuene explained that South African team doctor Harold Adam has got to him after the arrival in Berlin, nevertheless to pull back them of the world championship. Fear of him would have had Adams what arose after the 800-metre final really: public doubts about the femininity Semenyas. According to Chuene even two IAAF doctors would have recommended to the South Africans to simulate an injury of the 18-year-old not to let get they in the international floodlight.
